Sea Bears Look to Bounce Back at Home Against a Rising Saskatoon Mamba

The Winnipeg Sea Bears (8-5) return home Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. CT tip against the Saskatoon Mamba, looking to get back on track after Saturday's 94-88 loss in Vancouver ended their four-game winning streak.

The two teams know each other well this season. Winnipeg took the first meeting on May 16 at Canada Life Centre, then Saskatoon evened things up with a road loss on May 29 for Winnipeg. Tuesday night is the tiebreaker, and it comes at a moment when both clubs have plenty to play for in the Western Conference standings.

When the Sea Bears last saw the Mamba, Saskatoon was still finding their footing. That's no longer the case. Forward Trevon Scott, who dropped 28 points in Vancouver on Saturday, is clear-eyed about who they're facing. "They got a complete team," he said. "You can't forget about Jaylin Williams, a few other guys who are also pretty good. Each team has their main guys, and we got to come ready to make it a rough night for them, no matter who it is, from the first five to whoever else coming off the bench."

For Scott, Saturday's loss carries a message the group is taking seriously. "I'm glad that we lost in a way, because of the way we played. It was a wake-up call, for sure, because that was like a playoff type of environment game, and I'd rather get those lessons now than later." The answer, in his mind, is straightforward: "We got to get back to playing the basketball that we played, being that tough, gritty team, moving the ball, and just handling business."

Winnipeg's offence was there on Saturday, 88 points doesn't lose you many games. The 5-of-25 shooting from three was the story, and a return to Canada Life Centre is exactly the right place to correct it.
