Sea Bears Look to Bounce Back as Brampton Comes to Town Saturday

July 24, 2026

Coming off a tough loss to Vancouver, the Winnipeg Sea Bears return to Canada Life Centre on Saturday, July 25 to host the Brampton Honey Badgers. Tip-off is at 2:30 p.m. CT.

After falling 92-77 to the Vancouver Bandits on Thursday, the Sea Bears don't have the luxury of a long reset. Brampton comes to town with something to prove, and Winnipeg knows the quick turnaround demands a quick mind. For Jelani Watson-Gayle, the formula is straightforward: "The main thing is you learn from the loss, what you didn't do well and what you did well and just try to apply that to the next game. You don't want to dwell on it too much because it's a short turnaround. You don't want to clog up mentally. You just focus on the next."

The film from Thursday made a few things clear. Winnipeg got outworked in the paint and gave up too many second-chance opportunities, areas the group knows they can correct. "We didn't contain the ball," Watson-Gayle said. "Defence on the ball, myself included, wasn't up to standard. And rebounding, we got killed on offensive rebounds. A lot of that was defensive effort, which is just an easy fix." Brampton brings its own challenges. Watson-Gayle has done his homework: "They're ultra aggressive, so you have to be wary of them.

They'll shoot a lot of shots and once they see one go in, it could be a long day." The answer is the same one it always is. "At the end of the day, we're all professionals," Watson-Gayle said. "We know we have a job to do. You just find ways to get yourself ready."
