Sea Bears Make It 3-0 Against the Stingers This Season as Allen Hits Historic Milestone in 100-98 Road Win

July 5, 2026

Teddy Allen became the fastest player in CEBL history to reach 1,500 points as Winnipeg survived a tight battle in Edmonton to complete their third straight win over the Stingers.

The Winnipeg Sea Bears (10-5) came away with a 100-98 road victory over the Edmonton Stingers on Sunday at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, securing the win and a piece of history.

Teddy Allen was the story from tip to buzzer. The guard finished with 35 points on 10-of-21 shooting, going a near-perfect 14-of-15 from the free throw line in a game that came down to every single possession. At the end of the game, Allen reached a milestone of 1,500 career CEBL points, becoming not only the fifth player in league history to reach the milestone but the fastest to ever get there. In a two-point game, those trips to the line weren't just records, they were the margin.

When asked what reaching 1,500 points faster than anyone in CEBL history means to him personally, Allen kept it simple and grounded.

"It just means consistency, putting the work in. The stuff that people don't see off the court that just leads into stuff like that." - Teddy Allen

Emmanuel Akot was equally locked in, adding 23 points on an efficient 9-of-13 from the field including 4-of-6 from three. Trey McGowens finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, quietly one of the best two-way performances of the night. Jeremiah Tilmon Jr. chipped in 11 points off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting as Winnipeg found ways to score despite shooting just 8-of-26 from deep.

Edmonton made it uncomfortable. The Stingers held a lead as large as 12 points and got 32 bench points which was more than triple Winnipeg's 9, but Winnipeg's defence tightened when it mattered most.

When asked about what keeps clicking against Edmonton and what a road win like this means heading into the home stretch, Raimbault was measured but clear about the group's mindset.

"I don't know if it's anything specific to Edmonton. I think we're looking at every game as an individual opportunity for our group to get a little bit better. We're fortunate to come out of here with a win today for sure." - Head Coach Mike Raimbault

Sitting first in the Western Conference at 10-5, Winnipeg isn't taking anything for granted. "Every game is big. If you look at the standings, things can change really, really quickly, and we want to be in control of our own destiny as much as we can. For us to do that, we have to take advantage of each day and try to play our best basketball." - Head Coach Mike Raimbault

The Sea Bears carry that momentum home for the second leg of this back-to-back. The rematch is Thursday, July 9 at Canada Life Centre. Get your tickets here.
