Osborne Makes Unforgettable Debut as Sea Bears Rout Calgary 92-72 on Filipino Heritage Night

June 12, 2026

Isiah Osborne hit the game-winner and delivered one of the most complete debut performances in Sea Bears history as Winnipeg dominated the Surge in front of a rocking Canada Life Centre.

The Winnipeg Sea Bears made a statement on Filipino Heritage Night, rolling past the Calgary Surge 92-72 to extend their home winning streak and move to 5-4 on the season. It was a night that belonged to Isiah Osborne, who capped a dazzling debut with the game-winning shot in Target Score time as Canada Life Centre came to its feet.

Calgary kept things close through the first half, but the Sea Bears took over after the break. A dominant third quarter, outscoring the Surge 26-19, set the tone and a 22-10 fourth quarter finished the job. Calgary's night ended with their ninth consecutive loss.

Osborne was the undeniable story, finishing with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting, three rebounds, and a game-high five steals in 36 minutes. His impact went well beyond the box score. "There are so many little things that he did in the game tonight that won't show up on the stat sheet," said Head Coach Mike Raimbault. "He just has great awareness on the court. He's a true professional." Jeremiah Tilmon Jr. had his own name for it: "I've been calling him the silent assassin. He doesn't really say much, but he gets straight to it."

Teddy Allen was relentless alongside him, pouring in 25 points and four rebounds, while Trevon Scott added 11 off the bench in a balanced offensive effort. As a team, Winnipeg racked up nine steals, 44 points in the paint, and 19 fast break points, a reflection of the defensive aggression Raimbault has been building all season.

Osborne credited the atmosphere for fuelling the run. "We go on a run and it's electric in there. It keeps us going." On sliding seamlessly into a new team: "The guys welcomed me in with open arms. We just respect each other and play."

Tilmon summed up the turning point simply: "We had to talk with Coach, and it was either keep our foot on the gas or relax and let them come back. We just had to lock in."
