Alex Campbell Returns as Sea Bears Lead Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager

WINNIPEG, MB  – October 30, 2026 – The Winnipeg Sea Bears announced today that Alex Campbell will return for a second season as the club’s Lead Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager.

Campbell joined the Sea Bears coaching team last fall after retiring from a decorated CEBL playing career, and helped lead Winnipeg to the 2026 CEBL Championship. He returns as Lead Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager for the 2027 season under Head Coach and General Manager Mike Raimbault.

“Coming off our championship season, it’s clear how important Alex is to this organization, both as a coach and as Assistant General Manager,” said Raimbault. “His relationships with players, agents and people throughout the organization are a real asset in helping us build a successful team. He understands what we’re trying to accomplish here and brings value to so many different areas of our operation. He’s someone I trust and rely on in a number of ways, and I’m excited to have him back in both roles for 2027.”

Campbell knows this league inside and out. He played seven CEBL seasons, including two in Winnipeg, and made history in 2024 as the first Canadian player to reach 1,000 career points. He retired ranked fifth all-time in both points and steals, and was named 2019 Championship Weekend MVP with the Saskatchewan Rattlers. He’s currently in his second year as an Assistant Coach with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s basketball team.

“I want to thank Mike Raimbault and the entire Sea Bears organization for welcoming me back and giving me the opportunity to keep building on what we accomplished last season,” said Campbell. “I’m incredibly excited to run it back, keep raising the bar and do everything we can to keep the CEBL Championship trophy in Winnipeg. Last summer was a tremendous learning experience. Having played for this organization, stepping into a leadership role gave me an even greater appreciation for the work that goes into building a successful team, both on and off the court. I’m grateful for the opportunity, excited for what’s ahead and ready to get to work!”
