Winnipeg Sea Bears fan favourite and reigning CEBL MVP seeing success overseas

Teddy Allen, or "Buckets," as Winnipeg fans affectionately know him, has been named the Player of the Month for the British Basketball League in his first weeks of play with the Leicester Riders.

Allen made a splash in his British debut on Dec. 15, putting up 32 points against the Caledonia Gladiators. He helped his team to a 3-1 record after his arrival in December, averaging 23 points, five rebounds and two assists in that span.

The reigning CEBL MVP also shot an astounding 55.2 per cent from beyond the arc.

As he did in Winnipeg, Allen is causing a stir of excitement overseas.

Free agency for the 2024 CEBL season begins Feb. 1, and the Winnipeg Sea Bears hold the first rights to negotiate with Allen. Per CEBL policy, every player in CEBL basketball plays on a one-year contract, with each team signing its full roster in the months before training camp in May.
