Sea Bears to host FAN APPRECIATION GAME on Saturday

WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Wednesday that their final regular-season game this Saturday, July 29 will be held as the team’s Fan Appreciation Game in honour of the overwhelming and unwavering support received from fans this season.

Attendees of the game will enjoy unique programming and benefits in recognition of their integral role in making the Sea Bears’ inaugural campaign a record-breaking success. Read more about the festivities below!

Saturday’s “We Got Next” pregame party from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in True North Square will feature games, a live DJ, merchandise sales, face painting and a live performance from acclaimed hip-hop artist Len Bowen. The local product has earned music media nods from the likes of Complex Canada, Okayplayer and Canadian Beats, and will perform music from his new album NTHN4GRNTD.

The local dance troupe of Shad Knight, Shea Bay and Kelsey Pruse will work alongside Bowen to energize the party with a performance of their own. Fans are also invited to try the Sea Bears’ signature cocktail “Sea Spritz,” available at the Rose Bar from 4 to 7 p.m.

The pregame festivities will extend through the doors of Canada Life Centre, where fans are invited to attend "Happy Hour in the South Pole.” Team DJ Zuki will play on the stage at court level from 6 to 7 p.m., and fans will receive a happy hour special on cans of Budweiser and Bud Light for only $6 from 6 to 6:30 p.m. before the game.

Game time will feature a collection of additional giveaways. One attending fan will receive a pair of custom Sea Bears Nike Air Force shoes, created by local customizer Unboxed Customs. Two renewing 2023 season ticket holders will receive their season tickets for next season free, and two new 2024 season ticket holders will be selected to receive a pair of Sea Bears jerseys. Fans will also enjoy an increased set of merchandise giveaways.

Local breaking group BreakMB will also electrify the crowd with an acrobatic halftime performance.

All fans will receive an inaugural season autographed card featuring the complete 2023 roster, while each season ticket holder will be gifted with a commemorative inaugural season pennant as a token of appreciation for their early support of the team. Please note that these will be delivered later this summer.

THE PLAYOFF RACE:

Winnipeg can clinch the Western Conference’s first seed with either a win on Saturday or a Calgary Surge loss on Wednesday or Friday night. With a pair of Calgary wins, the Sea Bears would be playing for the first seed in their final regular-season game on July 29.

The club announced a sellout of the game on Tuesday, with tickets for their already-secured home playoff game to go on sale later this week. A second-place finish in the conference would place the Sea Bears as host of a play-in game on August 4, whereas pole position would net a home quarterfinal against the play-in winner on August 6.
