Sea Bears Head to Saskatoon Chasing Their Second Road Win of 2026

May 28, 2026

Winnipeg looks to snap their road losing streak when they take on prairie rival Saskatoon Friday night.

The Winnipeg Sea Bears (3-2) hit the road again Friday, heading west to face the Saskatoon Mamba in a prairie rivalry matchup. Both of Winnipeg's losses this season have come away from Canada Life Centre, and the Sea Bears are eager to change that. Standing in their way is a Saskatoon squad still searching for their first win of the season at 0-4, and a desperate team is a dangerous one.

Coming off Monday's 96-92 loss in Brampton, Head Coach Mike Raimbault liked what he saw from his group, even in a loss. "We liked our fight level. We fought hard to come back in the third quarter and we were right there." The lesson he's taking into Friday? "We feel like when we play our best basketball, we're right there with anyone."

Raimbault knows what the road demands. "We have to go down there and play with big-time effort. We know how difficult it is to play on the road, and we're looking forward to the challenge."

A key piece of that effort will once again be Davion Warren. The energetic guard has made the sixth-man role his own, and Raimbault has been impressed. "When he comes into the game, he changes the energy generally in our favour. We want him to play hard, get out there and be as disruptive as he can defensively, we feed off the energy that he's able to bring."

Warren is embracing the moment. "Sometimes we may need that extra spark off the bench and I feel like I can be that guy, whether it's scoring or being an energy guy, whatever." On facing a Saskatoon team still hungry for its first win, Warren isn't looking past anyone. "We can't take any opponent lightly. No matter the team record, we're all professionals in the same league, be ready to play."

The mentality heading in is simple. "Stay together, use everybody, the energy from the coaches, the managers, the players," Warren said. "We're going to need everybody, especially on the road. It's just us."

There's an added subplot to Friday's matchup: former Sea Bear Jaylin Williams is now suiting up for Saskatoon after spending the 2025 season in Winnipeg. The Mamba also boast a dangerous backcourt in Tavian Dunn-Martin, who led the entire CEBL in three-pointers made during the 2025 season with Montreal, and DaJuan Gordon, who is averaging 16 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season. Despite the 0-4 record, this is not a team to be taken lightly.
