ALLEN STEALS THE SHOW, KRAUS SEALS IT
Allen’s franchise-record six steals, Kraus’s clutch free throws lift Winnipeg to 77-75 win over Edmonton

Winnipeg, MB, May 9, 2026 — Teddy Allen rewrote the Winnipeg Sea Bears’ single-game franchise record book and Mason Kraus iced it from the free-throw line as Winnipeg edged the Edmonton Stingers 77-75 in their Canadian Elite Basketball League season opener Saturday in Edmonton.
Allen, named CEBL Player of the Game, posted a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, added five assists, and set a new franchise single-game record with six steals — the previous mark was five — in just under 38 minutes. Allen’s feet were active on the defensive end all night, and that activity is exactly what produced the record-setting steal total. Known as an offensive threat, he showed his defensive energy in equal measure Saturday.
“He just encourages us to play so hard. You kind of remember that when you’re out there — just trying to play hard, not give up an inch,” Allen said of head coach Mike Raimbault.
Raimbault said Allen’s defensive engagement has been part of a broader buy-in from the guard since training camp.
“His buy-in to our team approach from day one has been really, really good. He showed up multiple days before training camp to spend time and get familiar with some of the stuff that we wanted to do. We’re asking him to lead by example, in particular at the defensive end of the floor,” Raimbault said. “Super proud to see him continue to grow his game and show that he’s capable of impacting winning in multiple ways.”
Kraus, the Winnipeg-born guard, poured in 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from three and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line in just 16 minutes off the bench. Kraus made every minute count — knocking down triples when Winnipeg needed buckets and stepping calmly to the stripe in Target Score Time to deliver the two free throws that hit the mark and secured the win.
“I was a little bit nervous, but then Teddy and Armani came up to me, like, ‘Hey, we believe in you. You got this. We’ll knock it down,’” Kraus said. “All my nerves went away.”
Raimbault credited Kraus with energizing the group on both ends of the floor.
“He was a huge spark for us today. We know that he can defend and put pressure on the ball and make things happen at the defensive end, but today he was also ready to step up and catch and shoot,” Raimbault said. “He made some big shots for us, and obviously finished the game with the big free throws at the end.”
Forward Jeremiah Tilmon Jr. added 14 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, while Emmanuel Akot stuffed the box score with seven points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block in a do-it-all effort. Davion Warren came off the bench to deliver 10 points and three assists, shooting an efficient 3-of-4 inside the arc.
Raimbault — pulling double duty as general manager — was proud of how his group weathered Edmonton’s runs in a contest where Winnipeg’s biggest lead was just eight points.
“I’m super proud of the guys for showing some resilience. There were multiple times where things were sort of slipping away from us, and we were able to regroup and continue playing together,” Raimbault said. “We’ll enjoy it, and then we’ll think about next week sooner than later.”
